Privacy statement
In the course of our operations, the Institute of Employment Rights sometimes needs to collect certain data from the recipients of our services. The activities that require us to know some of your personal data include:
- When you request to join our mailing list
- When you book a place at one of our events
- When you make a purchase from the IER - including publications and paid subscriptions
We never collect data from any person without their knowledge and explicit consent.
Please see below for our privacy statement, which keeps you informed as to how your data is used and processed, as well as how you can request its removal.
Why we collect and process your data
We collect your data to provide you with the service that you have requested.
If you have signed up to our mailing list, we use your data to send you weekly news briefs and to keep you up to date with other IER news and activities, such as when we are holding events you may be interested in and when we are recruiting for new staff.
If you have booked a place at one of our events, we collect your data to reserve your seat, create a delegate name tag, and to process payment.
If you have made a purchase from the IER, we collect your data to process your payment and deliver the products you have ordered.
Processing your data in order to provide these services helps us to achieve our charitable goals of providing labour law education and informing the debate around possible reforms.
How we collect and process your data
You will be added to our mailing list when you explicitly consent to it by providing us with your email address at an event, signing up as a paid subscriber, or entering your email address in the "join our mailing list" box on our website. You can unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions provided on all of our emails or by emailing Sarah Glenister.
In the case of booking events and making purchases, we collect your data when you enter it into one of our secure payment forms either on the IER website or on Eventbrite.
Your data is stored on a secure database that can only be accessed by approved Data Processors within the IER. We only hold your data for as long as is necessary to perform the service you have requested.
When we share your data
We never share data with any other organisation. No third party will ever be given access to your data.
Your rights over how we collect and process your data
You have the right to ask us to remove your data from our mailing list at any time. You can do this by unsubscribing. You can unsubscribe by following the instructions on any email you receive from the IER, or by emailing Sarah Glenister.
You also have the right to know which of your data the IER holds and to have it removed. You can make this request by emailing Sarah Glenister.
