The Official Receiver managing the liquidation of the Carillion group has announced that 377 workers will lose their jobs through redundancy.

Around 253 of those being made redundant worked on public sector contracts, and 124 were carrying out private sector work. Most of the people affected worked in back-office occupations such as sales staff.

Unite warned that there are still thousands of workers who do not know whether or not their job is safe. A spokesperson for the union said: “These latest redundancy announcements have increased the feeling of chaos and confusion which has stalked Carillion since its collapse last month. Thousands of workers remain in limbo and don’t know if they will be able to continue to feed their families.”
