Employment tribunal fee refund scheme opens

The government's compensation scheme for claimants who paid employment tribunal fees that have since been found unlawful opened today.
Trade unions and approximately 1,000 people will be contacted individually by the government in this first phase of the scheme, which will last around four weeks.
Applicants to the scheme will be paid 0.5% interest on top of their original fee.
After this preliminary period, the full scheme will open to all those who lost out as a result of the unlawful fees. The government has announced that a pre-registration scheme will be rolled out for those who are not contacted in the initial phase this month.
