Enterprise Bill published
18 September 2015
The government has published the Enterprise Bill.
The stated aims of the bill are to;
• make sure that Britain is the best place in Europe to start and grow a business and that people who work hard have the opportunity to succeed
• cut red tape for business, encourage investment in skills, and make it easier for small firms to resolve payment disputes by setting up a Small Business Commissioner
In terms of employment rights, the bill will “protect the term apprenticeship” by making it a criminal offence to offer an apprenticeship course or training that is not a statutory apprenticeship. It will give powers for the introduction of a cap on public sector exit payments of £95,000.
