Labour promises pay rise and training for social care workers

The Labour Party has vowed to increase pay, and provide training, for social care workers across the UK.
Barbara Keeley, Shadow Minister for Mental Health, said today that £350m would be invested in training and the Party would act to increase wages.
"We want care staff to be properly paid and trained, so that they can provide the kind of compassionate care that they want to give," she explained.
The Institute of Employment Rights recommends that wages, training and the conditions of work should be negotiated by workers and their employers at a sectoral level through National Joint Councils established by a new Ministry of Labour.
