Siobhan Endean Equality National Officer at Unite opened the Conference by welcoming delegates and explained that she and Harrish Patel, another Unite National Officer for Equality, would be sharing the chairing arrangements for the day. Siobhan introduced the first speaker Duncan Exley, Executive Director of The Equality Trust.

On the hottest day in London this year, the Institute welcomed delegates to the GMB London Office to hear from leading legal and academic experts on the impact of government promises to repeal the Human Rights Act and replace it with a British Bill of Rights. The conference programme also looked at the wider impact of human rights on the world of work and what it might mean for labour law in the UK.

This was the ninth annual Employment Law Update Conference, organised by the Institute of Employment Rights held in association with Old Square Chambers and the TUC, and the first to take place under an all Conservative Government.
