Camilla Belich

Camilla has acted as a lawyer for trade unions and their members for almost 6 years, both in New Zealand in the United Kingdom. Prior to qualifying as a lawyer Camilla was Women’s Rights Officer and then Co-President of the New Zealand University Students’ Association and worked as a Policy Analyst for the Association of University Staff. She now works for UNISON as a Solicitor in the Legal Department advising the union and running strategically important litigation cases.

Landmark case shows strength of unions in protecting agency workers

The decision of an employment tribunal to compensate over 150 workers up to 60 days' pay after a local authority failed to provide UNISON sufficient information on agency workers during a collective redundancy and transfer of undertakings exercises shows the power of unions to secure justice for employees at risk of losing their jobs or working conditions.
