Len McCluskey, General Secretary of Unite, has called for the Scottish Government to introduce a blanket ban on the tendering of public works to companies that have been found guilty of blacklisting, the Morning Star reported.

He described blacklisting as a "national disgrace that has ruined lives and indelibly stained our construction industry, its biggest employers and successive governments".

Earlier this week, the Scottish Affairs Committee released its interim report of its blacklisting inquiry, arguing that major companies such as Skanska, Balfour Beatty and Sir Robert McAlpine have not taken enough responsibility for their actions and that more evidence is needed to show that blacklisting is not continuing.

Should the panel's investigation into the possibility of blacklisting practices continuing today, it will blow out of the water the excuse of the Coalition for not launching a public inquiry into the scandal that blacklisting is a thing of the past.
